I enjoyed the new release of La Yunta Torrontes
this past weekend.
Argentina is well known for this white wine and
here is an example of Torrontes at its best.
Fresh and vibrant with hints of peach and apricot
in the aroma and flavor, this is perfect as an
aperitif or to pair with first courses like pasta
in light sauces or crab cakes.
La Yunta is made from 100% Torrontes grapes
grown in La Rioja. The micro climate here produces
grapes that yield a notably drier style of wine than
most others I have tasted, yet the upfront fruit will
give a sensation of sweetness upon the first taste.
Overall the wine has extraordinary balance and
character. This 2010 vintage will drink well over
the spring and summer months.
It’s an incredible value at $10.
